Led by Florida Namusia, we’re excited to present a paper on “Youth Mobilization, Social Media, and Democracy in Africa: A Case Study of 2022 General Elections in Kenya” at the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) Annual Conference from February 22nd to 24th, 2023.
Our paper explored the impact of social media on youth mobilization during the 2022 general elections in Kenya, and its implications for democracy in Africa. One of our key findings was that while social media has the potential to invigorate political engagement among youth, it was not the primary reason for the low voter turnout during the 2022 elections.
We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to share our research and engage with other scholars and experts in the field. Thank you to the BIEA for organizing such an important conference and providing a platform for meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas.
